The best, it’s what makes people drive an extra five minutes or five miles. It’s what makes one person, place or thing stand out from the rest. During the nomination period, this first phase of the contest, the Poconos community has helped us to identify who these elite few are, so we could crown them Greatest Around in the Poconos. The nomination process ran from September 15, 2011 and closed at midnight on November 15, 2011. During that time the patrons of the Pocono community businesses were allowed to nominate their favorites daily. All of the nominations were moved into the voting process based on total nominations. The top 5-8 nominated were offered to the Pocono community for the final voting phase of the competition. Any category that received less than a total of five nominated individual persons, places or things, were not included in the voting phase of the competition.
Since there was no way into the voting polls once the nomination period ended, we encouraged you to tell your customers, and of course your friends and employees, to nominate often. We also, encouraged everyone to nominate in as many of the other categories as possible. While we received a more than healthy number of nominations we did have a few categories dropped due to an inadequate number of nominated individual persons, places or things. Next year we hope that the contest’s overall success this year will only serve to expand the number of people nominating and thus the overall number of categories that move into the voting period.
We thank all of the Pocono community and any Pocono visitors and lovers that made the overwhelming number of nominations, for their contribution to the success of this year’s 2012 Greatest Around in the Poconos contest! We hope to see the contest grow with every year. Look for us next September!
